GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Madonna University volleyball (17-10, 12-5 WHAC) went on the road and earned a five set victory over Cornerstone University (13-15, 8-10 WHAC) on Friday night inside Mol Arena. The win pushes the Crusaders winning streak to four games.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders came out firing on all cylinders in the opening set, as they powered their way to a 25-14 victory and hit .333 in the opening frame. Madonna continued to play well in set two and came out on top 25-23, finishing with a hitting percentage of .227.

Set three saw the host Golden Eagles dominate their way to a 25-14 victory and make it 2-1 Madonna. Cornerstone then used the momentum from the third set to win the fourth 25-23 and tie the match at 2-2. The Crusaders hit a match low .027 in set three and hit . 200 in set four.  

Despite blowing a 2-0 lead, Madonna remained composed. The Crusaders won set five 15-10 to take the 3-2 match victory. Madonna hit .273 in the final set, their best hitting percentage since set one. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• Three Crusaders finished with double-digit kill totals, they were Jaeda Porter with 15, Kira Buza with 14, and Kacie Stoneburner with 10. 
• Stoneburner finished with a team-high 30 assists, while Karlee Stoll added 25 assists of her own for Madonna. 
• Khloee Stoll led the Crusaders defensively with 22 digs, while Karlee Stoll posted 19 and Stoneburner recorded 17. 
• Madonna has swept the season series with Cornerstone. It is the first time since the 2019 season the Crusaders have swept the season series with the Golden Eagles. 
• The win moves Madonna to 46-18 all-time against Cornerstone.

Madonna will conclude their road trip in Grand Rapids with a match at Aquinas College on Saturday. First serve is set for 1:00 PM.
