GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Madonna University volleyball took on Aquinas College on Saturday and won their second straight five set match. The Crusaders moved into third place in the conference standings and are now 18-10 overall and 13-5 in WHAC play. Aquinas sits a game ahead of Madonna in second place. The loss drops the Saints to 27-7 overall and 14-4 in conference play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Madonna came out on a mission in the first two sets. The Crusaders won set one 25-21, before holding off Aquinas in set two 26-24. The Saints responded being down 2-0 by dominating the next two sets with a 25-14 and 25-16 victory. 

Tied at 2-2, Madonna wasn't going to let this one slip away. A block by Kira Buza and Kacie Stoneburner gave the Crusaders the 15-10 set five victory, and ended any hope of a reverse sweep for the host Saints.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• Buza finished with 12 kills and seven blocks for Madonna. 
• Tauri Hintz added 10 kills. 
• Karlee Stoll led the Crusaders with 19 assists, while Stoneburner finished right behind with 18. 
• Stoneburner also added 13 digs, while Karlee and Khloee Stoll each added 12. 
• Madonna is now 49-15 in the all-time series with Aquinas. 
• The Crusaders won their fifth straight match and secured a season series split with the Saints.
