LIVONIA, Mich. -- The Madonna University volleyball team registered their second straight win on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 sweep over the Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines inside the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Very similar to last night's match-up against Lourdes (Ohio), the Crusaders found themselves in a back and forth match. The Crusaders found themselves up 18-16 late in the set, however the Wolverines rattled off four straight points and the Crusaders found themselves trailing 20-18. The Wolverines made five costly errors to put Madonna back up,23-22, then kills from
Tauri Hintz and
Sophia Mainhardt secured the first set for Madonna 25-22.
In the second set, Dearborn saw the first set slip away from them and jumped out to and early 12-7 lead. The Crusaders battled through the adversity and rattle off an amazing 14-1 run thanks to great serving by
Karlee Stoll, the Crusaders would take a commanding 21-13 lead and went on the win the second set 25-16. In what would be the third and final set, Madonna would be in a close ball game, but secured the victory 25-20 to sweep the Wolverines 3-0.
