LIVONIA, Mich. - A five set thrilling volleyball match was played inside Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena on Friday night between Madonna and Indiana Tech. The visiting Warriors escaped with the 3-2 WHAC victory over the Crusaders, moving to 21-3 overall and 11-1 in the WHAC. Madonna fell to 13-9 overall and 8-4 in conference play following the defeat. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It seemed like Indiana Tech was on cruise control in the first two sets of the night. The Warriors handed the Crusaders a 25-17 loss in set one, before taking set two with the exact same score. 

Set three is where things began to get crazy, as Madonna found themselves down 22-17. After a timeout, the Crusaders rallied with an 8-1 run to capture the third set with a 25-23 victory. The Crusaders used the momentum from set three and jumped out to a 6-0 lead in set four, before ultimately tying the match at 2-2 with a 25-18 set victory. 

The final set of the evening was a back-and-forth affair. Madonna took a 12-10 lead however Indiana Tech rallied with three straight points to go ahead 13-12. Both the Crusaders and Warriors had a chance at match points but could not close things out. Following a kill by Kira Buza to make it 17-16 Madonna, Indiana Tech responded with three straight points to make it 19-17 and win the match. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• Jaeda Porter led Madonna with 18 kills, while Buza finished with 11 kills and seven blocks.
• Kacie Stoneburner ended her night with 10 kills and 20 assists. 
• Karlee Stoll had 31 assists for the Crusaders, while Khloee Stoll had 23 digs. 
• The Warriors were led by Emma Westra's 17 kills and Andrea Schriver's 58 assists.
