Crusaders Split Final Day of Aquinas Classic

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –  Madonna University's Volleyball program was back in action Saturday afternoon for day two of the Aquinas Classic and they split their two games, winning 3-0 against William Penn University (Iowa) and losing 3-2 against the University of St. Francis (Ill.)

GAME 1

The Crusaders seemed to continue their success from last night into match number one today. The Oakland University (Mich.) transfer Kira Buza was all over the first set. Her four kills helped the Crusaders go on a 14-5 run to win the first. In the second, the Crusaders found themselves trading points with William Penn. Madonna found themselves trailing 10-8, then in a blink of an eye, the Crusaders rattled off 13 straight points to make it 22-10 and would eventually win the set.
The third came along and the big hitters of Molly Miller, Hannah Kennan, DJ Sargent, and Jaeda Porter showed up for the Crusaders. Madonna would use another late push to win the seat and sweep William Penn for their third victory of the year.

GAME 2

Madonna would keep things knotted up in the first and third frames to lead 2-1. However, the Saints would storm back winning the fourth and fifth set handing the Crusaders their first loss of the season.
