GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. –  Madonna University's Volleyball program posted a 3-0 opening victory over Indiana University South Bend and a 3-0 win against #RV Bethel University (Ind.) on Friday night at Aquinas Classic in Rand Rapids, Mich. 

GAME 1

It was a back and fourth game in the first set until the Crusaders would go on an 11-5 run to close out the first set. The second set was more if the same as madonna found themselves in a 15-14 game. However once again, the Crusaders would go on another run with kills from Hannah Kennan, Molly Miller, and Jaeda Porter to win the second set 25-21. 
Set number three came along and yet again was a back-and-forth match. DJ Sargent, Jamie Ciacico, and Kacie Stoneburner all saw action throughout the game as the sophomore duo of Kennan and Miller continued to rack up kills.

GAME 2

Game number two was matched up with Bethel University (Ind.), and the Pilots are receiving votes for the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll. The Crusaders seemed to play with a chip on their shoulder as the ranking of the Pilots didn't seem to matter as Madonna swept Bethel in three straight sets; 25-16, 25-14, 26-24.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• In the two games, Kennan had 18 kills, four assists, two block assists, and 11 digs
• Porter had 15 kills, four assists, and seven combined blocks 
• Miller finished with 16 kills, two assists, and four block assists
• Sargent, 12 kills and three block assists 
• Stoneburner finished with 63 assists, seven kills, and three block assists

The Crusaders will return to action tomorrow with day two of the Aquinas Classic. The Crusaders will face William Penn University (Iowa) at 1:00 p.m. and the University of St. Francis (Ill.) at 3:00 p.m.
