Crusaders Win Their Fourth Straight

ANN ARBOR, Mich.-- Madonna University's Men's Soccer team continued Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play Wednesday afternoon as they traveled to Concordia University Ann Arbor and came away with a 3-0 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ryota Nakajima opened up the scoring for the Crusaders as he was able to sneak a shot past the goalie to the right at the 10:47 mark from Alexander Zaleczny.  The Crusaders would tack on another goal when Wagner Gamerio would send a cross in front of the goal and Nick Phyllis would do the rest and score his first career goal as a Crusader.

In the second half, the Crusaders had a couple more chances at the 56:19 mark as Andres Felipe had a header that went off the crossbar. However, as the game was winding down, Nakajima took a shot from outside the box and buried it into the bottom right corner to seal the 3-0 win.

The reigning WHAC Defensive Player of the Week, Youssou Ouendou, was his usual self in goal tonight for the Crusaders. He finished with his fifth shutout of the season and finished with four saves on the day.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Crusaders would win the shot battle 21-12, and the shot on goal 12-4
