ANN ARBOR, Mich.-- On Saturday, Madonna University's Volleyball team traveled to Cardinal Fieldhouse on the campus of Concordia University Ann Arbor for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup, winning in straight sets 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Like most games, it seems, Madonna and the Cardinals threw punches at one another early on as we fast forward to the end of the set. Concordia rallied a 5-0 run to knot things up at 21-21 before a Cardinals' attacking error gave the Crusaders the edge leading into kills by Molly Miller and Kacie Stoneburner to steal the set win 25-22. 

The second set, however, was less of the same. Madonna's Miller and Stoneburner complimented one another with back-to-back kills of their own for a 4-0 run to win the race to 10 points early. Miller, Stoneburner, and three-straight attacking errors by the Cardinals gave Madonna more than enough to win set two handedly, 25-15.

Concordia jumped out early in the third before Madonna shut the Cardinals down with the longest scoring streak of the season, running it up by 13 points behind Kelly, Stoneburner, Miller, and a fury of assist by Jordyn Dawson. The Cardinals tried to pull a late comeback, pulling within 10 before Stoneburner's kill won the set and the match 25-17.

• The Crusaders dominated the net with 12 blocks to Concordia's three. Porter tallied nine, a season-high, while Kelly stopped five
• Stoneburner held the team-high in kills with 14 while Kelly and Miller each held 11, respectively. 
• Dawson also set up 27 assists

Yet another home contest is on the horizon for Friday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena for a date with University of Northwestern Ohio.
