Madonna Volleyball Splits WHAC Weekend

LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University's Volleyball program split Friday and Saturday Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) matches inside the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena against University of Northwestern Ohio and Indiana Tech.

MADONNA 3, UNOH 0

HOW IT HAPPENED

After the Racers stole the first point of the game, Madonna cruised off to a 5-0 run behind kills from Brigette Vanderham, Jodie Kelly, and a few attacking errors from UNOH. The Racers fired off a small run of their own, reaching within a few points of Madonna at some instances but, ultimately, the strong arm and eight kills of Kelly shut UNOH down in the first set 25-11.

UNOH burned rubber to a 14-11 lead in the middle of the second as both teams exchanged leads before an attacking error by the Racers gave Madonna the edge it needed. Eight straight errors by the Racers inflated the tires of the Crusaders as Kacie Stoneburner gave Madonna the final kill down the stretch to a 25-20 set two win.

Madonna found itself down 9-6 in the third before racing back behind Molly Miller and Stoneburner to give the Crusaders a lead where it'll never look back. At the end of the third, Madonna stretched out a 5-0 run with the duo of Kelly and Miller for the win.
