PONTIAC, Mich.– The Madonna University men's soccer team traveled to Pontiac to match up against the Warriors of Rochester University for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup with only a few games left.
With only three games remaining in the regular season the Crusaders currently sit tied for the fourth seed as they are behind Indiana Tech, University of Northwestern Ohio, Lourdes, and tied with Aquinas.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first half was back and forth as neither team was able to take advantage of some solid shots on both sides, as the game went into the half tied at zero.
- Rochester was able to take the only lead change in the 59th minute as they were able to head in a deflection off the Madonna goalie Robert Damron for the 1-0 lead.
- In the 80th minute Rochester was able to score the second goal as Dmitar Stankovic crossed the ball to the open Evan Mitchell who was able to beat the keeper to the far side.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Rochester barely edged out Madonna in shots and shots on goal as they led those categories 13-11 and 8-6 respectively.
- Damron recorded six saves throughout the evening, with the Rochester goalie also tallying six.
- Madonna was able to get opportunities in the offensive end as they had six corners throughout the game.
UP NEXT
- The Crusaders will be back on the road on Wednesday March 30 as they will travel to Sylvania, Ohio for a matchup against Lourdes University that will begin at 7PM.
