SYLVANIA, Ohio– The Madonna University men's soccer traveled down to Ohio for their latest Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday afternoon as they look to improve their conference standings against the Grey Wolves of Lourdes University.

Following the game the Crusaders move up to the fourth seed in the WHAC standings with just two games remaining to play. Those final two games are against University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday April 3 and University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday April 7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The match started out with a lot of back and forth opportunities on both halves of the field as neither team was able to grasp onto a goal.
  • The Crusaders though did strike first though in the 27th minute as Ivan Panergo received a pass from Issei Ito and took a few dribbles near the end line and was able to get just enough of an angle to give the Crusaders the 1-0 lead.
  • Four minutes later the Grey Wolves would tie the match up as they would get a goal from Brenden Long as he would be able to score off of a deflection to even the game at one.
  • With 10 minutes remaining in the game Wagner Gamerio Febbe was able to get a cross into the box to Alexander Zaleczny who headed the ball into the net to retake the Crusader lead.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Crusaders won the shot column by a narrow edge as they were able to tally one more shot, as they led 10-9, and 8-3 in shots on goal.
  • Madonna kept up on the offensive end as they were able to record seven corners throughout the game.
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders come back home on Saturday April 3 for the first game of their final homestand of the regular season as they will celebrate senior day when they go up against University of Michigan-Dearborn which will begin at 5 PM.
