Men’s Soccer picks up 5-1 win for third straight win

THE BASICS

Score: Madonna University 5, Lawrence Tech University 1

Location: Blue Devil Stadium, Southfield, Mich.

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.– The Madonna University men's soccer team traveled to Southfield to face off against Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opponents in the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. The Crusaders would end the game with four straight goals in the final 20 minutes of the game. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The game started out seeing both teams getting solid opportunities throughout the first half with nothing coming to fruition. 
  • The Crusaders though would strike first in the 37th minute as Carlos Martinez Rodriguez as he would head a ball in off of a free kick from Issei Ito after a Blue Devil foul near the corner. 
  • Lawrence Tech would tie the game up in the 54th minute when they would score off of a corner kick as they would beat the Madonna goalie to the other side of the net. 
  • From then on it would be all Crusaders though as they would begin the streak of four straight goals to end the game. Issei Ito would start as he scored in the 70th minute on a cross and was able to take a few dribbles in order to score.
  • Rodriguez would score his second goal of the game in the game in the 80th minute on an assist from Wagner Gameiro Febbe. 
  • Dante White would get the next goal for the Crusaders as he would be able to hit a hard shot into the upper corner of the net. Seconds later Ivan Panergo would add on the final goal of the game for the Crusaders. 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Crusaders would out shoot the Blue Devils 8-4 in shots and also 7-3 in shots on goal. 
  • Madonna would take five corner kicks to the Lawrence Tech two. 
  • Robert Damron picks up his third straight win for the Crusaders while making two saves on the afternoon. 
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana on Wednesday March 17 when they will go up against No. 18 Indiana Tech University with a 4 PM kickoff.
