LIVONIA, Mich.-- On Senior Night, Madonna University's Volleyball team rallied from a 25-22 first set defeat to win 3-1 over Aquinas College (Mich.) at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

After dropping the first set 25-22, Madonna stretched out in bursts of small leads by Jodie Kelly and Jaeda Porter kills early on in the second. A few of the Saints' attacking errors and a flurry of kills by Molly Miller in the middle of the frame, put Madonna up to an edge that Aquinas could not overcome. Kacie Stoneburner finished the set with a kill making it 25-15.

Behind Porter and Kelly once more, Madonna lept out to an advantage early on in the third. Kills by Kelly, Miller, and Stoneburner helped the Crusaders sustain the lead while the Saints began to close in late in the set but, ultimately, were unable to overtake Madonna as the team took the set win 25-19. 

The Crusaders showed no mercy in the fourth, jumping out to a 13-3 advantage behind kills from Stoneburner, Miller, Porter, and Kelly. As the Saints started to climb back, a strong kill by Ryleigh Jacobs affirmed Madonna's win as an attacking error by Madonna gave the Crusaders the win 25-15.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Kelly and Miller led the team with 13 and 12 kills, respectively
• Jordyn Dawson tallied 30 assists on the night
• Olivia Sweeney had a team-high 16 of Madonna's 80 digs
• The Crusaders have completed the season sweep of Aquinas in seven sets

The Crusaders will be on the road for three-straight matches starting on Friday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. in Fort Wayne, Indiana for a rematch with Indiana Tech.
