LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University Volleyball player Jodie Kelly notched her 2,000th career kill in Wednesday night's 3-0 win over Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) foe Lawrence Technological University (Mich.) at the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The whole arena held up one finger as Kelly rattled off three quick points in the first set. To get the final point, Kelly had to consistently fight through stout blockers and some diving digs by LTU to hold her at 1,999 as long as possible. It wasn't until a fierce attack that diverted off some Blue Devil fingertips gave her number 2,000 as Madonna won the first set 25-23.

Madonna found itself down 14-9 in the middle of the second set before Kacie Stoneburner and a couple Blue Devil attacking errors tied things up at 15-15. The Crusaders had to continue to battle as Stoneburner and DJ Sargent made sure that Madonna would steal set two 25-22. 

LTU jumped out to a 6-2 lead early in the third with Jaea Porter hitting back-to-back kills to try and pull the Crusaders back in. After exchanging a few points, Kelly sparked a 6-0 MAdonna run with Molly Miller and a couple LTU attacking errors giving Madonna a lead where Olivia Sweeney's service ace sealed the deal at 25-20 in the third.
