LIVONIA, Mich.-- Madonna University's Men's Soccer team continued Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play Saturday afternoon as they hosted Rochester University tying 1-1. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Crusaders' were looking to bounce back from their game against Indiana Tech, and they came out attacking. Madonna had seven shots, three on goal and one that hit the post in the first 20 minutes of play. Youssou Ouendeno was tested in the first half as well with four saves, including a diving save off a free kick.

In the second half the Warriors would get on the board in the 64th minute. Rochester was rewarded a corner kick and when the ball was sent into the box, it went off a Crusader and went into the net to make it 1-0. 

The Crusaders would respond with the equalizer at the 77:06 mark. Wagner Gameiro was dribbling up the pitch and sent a through ball to Alexander Zaleczny down the left side of the box. Zaleczny got his feet set and put it in the bottom right corner, beating the Rochester goalie. Both teams had plenty of opportunities to score but none were successful as this one went into overtime.

In two 10 minute overtime periods, the Crusaders' came out hot, having two shots in the first two minutes. The Warriors would play great defense as they limited the Crusaders' chances. Again, both teams had plenty of opportunities to score late in the second period of overtime but were not able to capitalize

The Crusaders will return to action this Wednesday October 13, at 2:00 p.m. to host Lourdes University (Ohio) at the Madonna Athletic Complex.
