GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- Madonna University Volleyball took to the court Saturday afternoon at the Alksnis Athletics & Recreation Building on the campus of Aquinas College (Mich.) for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference sweep 3-0. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

A Molly Miller service ace started off the match before the Crusaders found themselves in a 12-12 squeeze before an attacking error by Aquinas and two-straight Jaeda Porter kills bumped the Crusaders just ahead, but not for long. The Saints would climb back within one at certain points down the stretch before a Kacie Stoneburner kill and a final attacking error by Aquinas gave Madonna the 25-22 set win.

In the second set, Madonna floored it to a 9-0 run with kills from Porter, Jodie Kelly, and Jordyn Dawson. Kelly and Stoneburner and a few attacking errors by the Saints gave Madonna an edge that their opponent could not overcome, winning the second set 25-12. 

Both teams would never score more than two in-a-row in the start of the third set, Stoneburner lit a fire for Madonna to stretch that lead a bit more to 10-7 as the Crusaders won the race to double-digits. Porter tallied more kills later while a ball handling error from Aquinas sparked a 6-0 Madonna run where it counted most as one final attacking error handed Madonna the set and the win, 25-16.

• Crusaders fired off eight service aces in the match to the Saints' two
• Kelly held a team-high 11 kills with Porter behind with eight
• Dawson once again reached 24 assists in the match

The Crusaders will return home on Wednesday, October 13 in the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Arena at 7:00 p.m. for a fight with University of Michigan-Dearborn
