HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At the 8:44 mark in the first half, Madonna led by as many as 13 points behind the effort of a slew of Blue and Gold jerseys before Cornerstone rallied back with a 14-0 run with about 5:21 left gave the Golden Eagles a five-point lead at the half.Â
- From the midpoint in the second half, Cornerstone held a 10-point lead. Behind the efforts of sophomore Ryan Nunn, sophomore Devin Dunn, junior Mark Mettie, and senior Noah Campbell the Crusaders clawed their way back over the course of 11 minutes to a three-point deficit with 2.1 second remaining.
- Dunn launched a quarterback toss to an open Speight who nabbed the ball away from two defenders, turned, and launched a deep three as the buzzer sounded that sank in the silent arena for overtime.
- A Speight jumper followed by a solo free throw tie by Cornerstone knotted everything up at 87-87 after the first overtime period. Madonna overtook the lead in the second overtime with a Campbel triple and held the lead the rest of the way for the 108-102 win.
