Turning Point: 8 straight goals to start the game for the Tigers
 
GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Madonna University Women's Lacrosse team traveled to Georgetown College for a faceoff against the No. 8 ranked Tigers. The Crusaders got into a hole early and were not able to overcome the Tigers quick start as they went on to drop the match 15-5.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Tigers were able to score early as they went up a quick 3-0 in the first three minutes of the match as Tess Borders scored all three
  • Over the next 15 minutes the Tigers expanded the lead to 8-0 which included Borders scoring her fifth of the game
  • Aria Gettel scored the next two as her first goal was at 13:17 after she picked up the ground ball off the draw control and took it all the way down the field. Gettel's second goal was two minutes later on a free position attempt from the top of the arc.
  • Early in the second half the Crusaders got on the board again as Dana Haney picked up a ground ball at midfield and brought it all the way down and was able to beat the goalie for the goal.
  • The next Crusader goal came from Taylor Vitori as she got a pass from Gettel in the middle of the zone and got off a quick shot on the goalie who came up to defend the shot. 
  • The final Madonna goal came on a man up opportunity from Arianna Rivera with 9:31 remaining as she had a free position attempt from the right side of the arc.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • The Crusaders were outshot by the Tigers by a total of 45-18
  • The Blue and Gold were 17-22 on clears for the evening which was good for 77%
  • Madonna picked up 21 ground balls as opposed to 20 for the Tigers
  • The Tigers narrowly controlled more draws than the Crusaders 10-9
UP NEXT
  • The Crusaders will come home for the first home game of the 2020 season as they will go up against William Penn University on Friday, March 6 with a noon faceoff.
