LIVONIA, Mich. - The 22nd-ranked Madonna University men's basketball team matched a program record with their ninth consecutive win, an 81-68 victory over Aquinas College inside the MU Activities Center, on Saturday evening. 

The Crusaders jumped out to a fast start, 10-2, and never looked back. The Saints cut the margin to five, 24-19 with 12:04 to play in the first half, but that's when the Blue and Gold, spurred on by a Ryan McMullen layup and a Stephan Umfress put back, scored 14 of the next 16 points to push the lead to a first-half high 17 points, 38-21. 

Madonna led by 14 and Aquinas never got closer than 10 in the final 20 minutes as a Noah Campbell layup with 2:47 to play pushed the lead to a game-high 20 points, 79-59. The visitors from Grand Rapids scored nine of the final 11 points for the final margin. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Joshua Reynolds paced the offense with a game-high 25 points to go with four rebounds and three assists while Henry Speight added 12 points and grabbed six rebounds
  • Caleb Drumm added nine points while Umfress tallied eight; Mark Mettie led MU with seven rebounds and added three blocks
  • The Blue and Gold finished 29-of-53 (54.7%) from the field and 10-of-23 (43.5%) from the 3-point arc and converted 13-of-18 free-throw attempts.
  • Three other teams, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2014-15, also tallied nine-game win streaks
