Kelly leads @MUCrusadersVB to homecoming sweep of Racers

LIVONIA, Mich. - The first volleyball game of Homecoming Weekend resulted in a quick win for the Madonna University volleyball team,  as they swept the University of Northwestern Ohio inside the MU Activities Center on Friday night.

The Crusaders improve to 13-5 on the year and  5-1 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while UNOH falls to 13-6 overall and 3-2 in league action.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The Blue and Gold started off slow against the Racers until the game was broken open with back-to-back kills by Erica LaBaere and Jodie Kelly giving them a 10-8 lead. Ryan Castle followed with a service ace and the Crusaders never trailed en route to a 25-21 set one win.
  • It was a fairly even set two until a pair of kills from Karolina Noszczyk and DJ Sargent broke a tie at 14 and the Crusaders never looked back. MU outscored UNOH 11-5 the rest of the way in the 25-19 win.
  • It was another tight set in game three as the Racers kept the match close at 12-11 until a pair of attack errors and a Jodie Kelly kill sparked a 9-1 MU rally that saw the Blue and Gold take a commanding 21-12 lead that they rode to a 25-15 victory.
