FORT WAYNE, Ind. – In a game that featured pouring rain and a power outage, the No. 2 ranked and fourth-seeded Madonna University men's lacrosse team struggled to possess the ball in the second half en route to a 13-3 loss in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament semifinal to top-seed Indiana Tech on Thursday at the Warrior Athletic Field.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Ian Rush and Vince Floro book-ended the first quarter with goals and, after a trio of Warrior goals, Harry Dyson made it a one goal game before the half
- Indiana Tech won the opening faceoff of the second half and scored 12 seconds into the period just before the lights went out forcing a nearly 20 minute delay in the action
- The home team outscored the Crusaders 9-0 in the final 30 minutes
BY THE NUMBERS
- 8/19, 22/38: Madonna attempted 19 shots and put eight on goal while Indiana Tech put 22 of their 38 shots on net
- 34: Madonna struggled to control the ball in the rain and committed 34 turnovers
- 11-19: Led by Zachary Beam, Madonna's face-off specialist, the Blue and Gold won 11-of-19 face-offs
- 8: Tyler Dohmeier, Madonna's goalkeeper, led the team with eight ground balls and made nine staves
- 2: Connor Wright and Jake Hwier paced the MU defense with a pair of caused turnovers each
- 1: Dyson, Floor and Rush were the only players to record a point for MU
