DETROIT, Mich.- It took nearly four hours and 10 innings, but the Madonna University baseball team earned a dramatic win over Northwood University at Comerica Park on Tuesday night as Noah Renaud drove in Justin Mattson for the 6-5 walk-off victory.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Both teams scored in the fourth, the Crusaders got their run on a Jalen Thomas sacrifice fly which plated Jerad Dokey - it was the first MU runs at Comerica Park in 21.2 innings
  • Dokey singled home Gordon Ferguson in the fifth for a 2-1 lead, but four Timberwolves runs in the sixth gave the Great Lakes Athletics Conference program the 5-2 edge
  • Dokey drove in another run in the seventh as Renaud scored and back-to-back balks brought the Crusaders' third basemen home to cut the deficit to one
  • A wild pitch in the eighth brought home Thomas to tie the game
  • Mattson delivered a two-out double down the left field line and then Renaud singled to right field for the walk-off win
WHAT DO THE NUMBERS SAY?
  • 16: Madonna collected 16 hits led by Renaud's four
  • 9: The Blue and Gold used nine pitchers in the contest and they combined for nine strikeouts led by Beuckeleare's three
  • 5: The Crusaders drew five walks in the contest
  • 4: Renaud went 4-for-4 in the contest with a run scored, RBI and a walk; Beuckeleare earned his fourth win as he allowed two hits in two shutout innings with three strikeouts
  • 3: Dokey finished 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, Alex Garbacik, who also played third base, went 1-for-1
