ANN ARBOR, Mich.– Needing to win out in order to secure the final spot in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference women's lacrosse tournament later this month, the Madonna University women's lacrosse team saw that hope come to an end on Saturday as Concordia University - Ann Arbor defeated the Crusaders 13-4 on their senior day at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Lauren Plave scored the first MU goal at the 16:06 mark to make it 3-1, but the Cardinals scored three more times in the opening 30 minutes for a 6-1 lead at the half.
- Madeleine Caswell, Haley Skeens and Brittany Leist each scored in the second half, but the Cardinals added seven more for the final tally.
BY THE NUMBERS
- 39 (27) - 22 (17): Concordia outshot Madonna 39-22 which included a 27-17 margin in shots on goal
- 10-7: The Cardinals won 10-of-17 draw controls in the contest
- 4: Alisha Birchmeier led MU with four ground balls while Dana Haney paced the Blue and Gold with four draw controls
- 3: Chelsea Plant recorded three ground balls and caused two turnovers while Emily Daly led MU with three caused turnovers
