LIVONIA, Mich.– Seven different student-athletes netted a a point for the Madonna University women's lacrosse team as they snapped a six-game losing streak with a 19-9 win over Aquinas College at the Madonna Athletics Complex on Wednesday afternoon.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Crusaders scored the first three goals (Haley Skeens, Christy Battersby, Dana Haney) and Battersby added two more after the first Saints tally as the Blue and Gold took an 8-5 lead at the half.
- Madonna used an 11-goal second half to put the game away as Valarie Patterson (3) and Brittany Leist (2) each scored multiple goals to ice the 19-9 victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- 30-25: With Madonna outshot Aquinas 30-25, the difference was in the quality of the shot as the Saints put 18 on goal while the Crusaders had 26 on frame
- 8: Haney won eight draw controls to lead the team while Leist added seven
- 5: Battersby finished with five points, the second time in her career she's tallied at least five points in a game
- 4: Lauren Plave paced the team with four caused turnovers and collected six ground balls; Madison Kadwell (4 g) and Haney (2 g, 2 a) each tallied four points

- The Crusaders, who must win out and need some help in order to capture the sixth spot in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Tournament, face a team just ahead of them in the standings on SAturday, April 13 as they travel to Ann Arbor to face Concordia University with the opening draw scheduled for 12 p.m.
