LAKE WALES, Fla.- The Madonna University baseball team began the day with an upset over Bellevue University, who were previously ranked 23rd in the coaches poll, but were not able to pull off an upset over No. 10 St. Thomas University in the nightcap, falling 6-4 as the Bobcats rallied from behind in the sixth and seventh innings.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Game One - MU 15, BU 4

• Jalen Thomas smacked a grand slam in the top of the first to put the Crusaders ahead 4-0

• MU added a single run in the second, seven in the fourth, and three in the fifth to reach the 15 run mark

• Four different players recorded a single hit for MU while Gordon Ferguson, Frankie Lucska, and Nick Sykes each tallied two

• MU scored in four different innings, highlighted by a seven run fourth inning put the game out of reach for the Bruins

WHAT DO THE NUMBERS SAY?

• MU was outhit by BU 10-11

• Both teams committed two errors

• Ferguson and Lucska each scored three runs for the Blue and Gold

• Donovan Thacker picked up the win, throwing five innings and allowing just two earned runs while striking out four batters

• Ethan Whitcomb came out of the pen for the final two innings, giving up two hits and striking out one opposing batter

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Game Two - MU 4, STU 6

• Thomas and Lucska paced the offense, combining for a 4-for-6 day

• Adrian Reed, Alex Garbacik and Noah Moore picked up the three RBI for MU

• The Crusaders were ahead 2-1 heading into the sixth inning before a four-run sixth inning for the Bobcats reclaimed the lead

WHAT DO THE NUMBERS SAY?

• The Crusaders outhit STU 9-8 and committed no errors compared to one for the Bobcats

• Jack Ferguson recorded the loss, throwing 5.2 innings and allowing five earned runs with five strikeouts

• Greg Goodred came in relief, allowing a single run in the seventh
