LIVONIA, Mich. – The No. 1 ranked Madonna University men's lacrosse team flexed its muscle on Wednesday afternoon with a 21-4 victory over Concordia University - Ann Arbor to open Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play. 

Madonna, led by Anthony Salamone, used a 14-0 run from the second to the fourth to put the game away and remain unbeaten.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Crusaders failed to score first for the second consecutive game, but didn't trail for long a Ian Rush fed Ryan Flaherty for a man-up goal and Tyler Kilar found Jordan Davis for the game-winner with 7:17 left in the first
  • Madonna pushed the lead to six with a 6-1 second quarter. Salamone scored twice and assisted on another in the period.
  • The Blue and Gold scored 12 unanswered goals in the third and five 4:15 of the fourth to push the lead to 18.
  • Salamone scored four more in the run while Rush added three and Jake Hwier tallied a goal from his defensive position.
  • The Cardinals scored two of the games final three goals for the final tally.
BY THE NUMBERS
  • 8: Salamone finished with eight points with six goals and two assists
  • 6: Tyler Kilar (1 g, 5 a) and Rush (4 g, 2 a) each tallied six points with the latter also adding six ground balls and a won face-off
  • 4: Ryan Flaherty and Harry Dyson each scored twice and assisted on a pair of goals
  • 3: Vince Floro (2 g, 1 a) and Marco McMann (1 g, 2 a) each tallied three points
  • 58/36: Madonna took 58 shots in the game with 36 on frame
  • 25: Madonna, led by Zachary Beam's 24, won 25-of-29 faceoffs in the contest
  • 7-8: The Crusaders finished 7-of-8 on extra-man opportunities
