WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The top-ranked Madonna University men's lacrosse team used a 7-0 run midwy through the contest to pull away from third-ranked University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) at UC Lacrosse/Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon for a 12-6 win.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Patriots score three of the first four goals in the opening two minutes of the contest
- Harry Dyson and Ryan Flaherty tallied goals to tie the game, but a UC goal gave the home team a 4-3 lead with 50 seconds left in the first
- The Blue and Gold defense didn't allow another goal until the fourth quarter, during which time the offense went on a 7-0 run to take a 10-4 lead
- Dyson scored five of the seven goals while Tyler Kilar scored and assisted and Flaherty added the seventh goal
- Anthony Salamone scored twice in the fourth quarter for the final tallies
BY THE NUMBERS
- 99: Cole Gingell missed his first game as a Crusader
- 44/26: Madonna took 44 shots in the contest and put 26 on goal
- 6: Dyson finished with six goals on 12 shots
- 12: Zachary Beam finished 12-of-22 on the face-off for MU
- 11: Tyler Dohmeier made 11 saves in net for MU in the win
