WEST POINT, Ga. Having been awarded a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference victory by way of a Cleary University forfeit, the second-ranked Madonna University men's lacrosse team began the 2019 season much as it did a year ago, with a dominant 31-6 victory over Point University at River Bowl Stadium on Saturday evening. Reigning NAIA Player of the Year Gole Gingell powered the offense with a single-game record 15 points while Ryan Flaherty added nine and Harry Dyson and freshman Anthony Salamone each tallied six.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Madonna scored the first seven goals in the contest, then scored seven more after Point netted a pair. It led to a 15-3 lead at the half.
  • Another 7-0 run to begin the third quarter pushed the lead to 19, 22-3. MU added four more tallies to the Skyhawks two for a 26-5 advantage with 15 minutes to play.
  • Point scored the first goal of the fourth, but the Blue and Gold ended the game as it began with five straight goals for the 31-6 win.
