FORT WAYNE, Ind. - For the second time in as many days the Madonna University volleyball team found itself matched up against another top three program in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, however, this time it was Indiana Tech who came away with the win, 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 15-25, 29-27), inside the Schaefer Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders drop to 21-7 on the season and 13-3 in WHAC play while the Warriors improve to 22-7 overall and 10-5 in league action.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- In set one, Madonna led early, 2-1, but the Warriors scored 12 of the next 17 points to take a five-point lead and never trailed again in a 25-17 win.
- Indiana Tech won the first seven points and 9-of-10 for an early lead before kills from Kelly and Kwasiborski ended the run and MU won six of the next eight points to make it 11-7. The Warriors responded with eight straight points and went on to win set two, 25-16.
- After the teams traded side-outs in set three, the Crusaders took control as a Tauri Hintz kill sparked a 4-0 MU run that included an ace from Joella Griner and an Erica LaBaere kill to make it 11-6. The Warriors go to within two, 15-13, before the Blue and Gold finished the set with a 10-2 run, capped by three straight kills from LaBaere, Kwasiborski and Hintz to win 25-15.
- It was a hard-fought set four as the teams traded side-outs throughout the game. The Warriors were the first to 22, 23 and 24, but MU didn't give in. Down 22-19, Hintz delivered a kill that sparked a 3-0 run to tie the set at 22. The teams traded side-outs until the Warriors led 26-25. A Tech error and a Kwasiborski kill gave the Crusaders a 27-26 advantage, but two kills and a block by the home team gave the Fort Wayne program the 29-27 win.

- .201-.208: Indiana Tech outhit the Crusaders .208 (58-26-154) to .201 (49-18-154)
- .370: Kwasiborski hit .370 in the match with 12 kills, tied with Kelly for the team-high
- 33: Sargent tallied double-digit kills for the second straight match and hit a team-high .444 with 10 kills
- 9/12: LaBaere finished with nine kills and a team-high four blocks
UP NEXT
- The Blue and Gold return home for three of the final four regular-season matches beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7p.m. against Lourdes University. During the match there will be a group costume contest with groups 4-10 eligible to win an eat and play combo at Dave and Buster's for the entire group.
