ADRIAN, Mich. - The Madonna University volleyball team won its 33rd consecutive match against Siena Heights University with a 3-1 victory inside the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday night. The Crusaders are now 48-3 all-time against the Saints.

The Blue and Gold improve to 17-7 on the year and 9-2 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Saints fall to 5-13 in 2019 and 2-9 in the WHAC.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • An evenly contested first set saw the teams tied at 15 before the Crusaders won 4-of-5 points, powered by kills from Tauri Hintz, Erica LaBaere and Jordyn Dawnson, to take a 19-16 lead that they would not relinquish. The home team made things interesting as they cut the lead to one, 24-23, but a block by Dawson and LaBaere sealed the win.
  • Seven kills from Jodie Kelly and a back-to-back service aces from Dawson highlighted a 15-3 run to begin set two for the Crusaders. The Saints battled back, but a Kelly kill eventually sealed a 25-20 win.
  • MU led set three, 4-2, but the home team went on a 7-0 run and the Crusaders never recovered, dropping the set 25-22.
  • After Siena Heights scored the opening three points of set four, Ryan Castle stepped to the service line and served eight straight points which included a kill of her own and five consecutive service aces for an 8-3 lead. The Blue and Gold went on to dominate the set, 25-11, to win the match.
