LIVONIA, Mich. - The top spot in the Conference standings were in the balance when the Madonna Crusaders men's soccer team faced off against the Warriors of Indiana Tech. The match was close all the way to the end as the Warriors ended as the 2-1 victors. 
With the loss the Crusaders fall to 6-2-2 on the year and 3-1 in the WHAC while Indiana Tech improves to 7-4 overall and 4-0 in league play. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Indiana Tech put the Crusaders in a 1-0 hole in the third minute of the match when Brendan Sidaway headed a cross in from Jamie Tenorio
• In the 36minute, the Blue and Gold finally broke through after many shots on goal as Breno Stapcinskas put in a free kick from 30 yards out that made it through the defensive wall to tie the game up at one a piece. 
• In the 52nd minute the Warriors had a free kick from the right side that was headed in by Scott McCarthy as he got the kick from Luke Jones to put the Warriors ahead for the rest of the match.

INSIDE THE BOX

• Madonna put 10 of their 22 shots on goal in the contest while the Warriors managed eight shots with five on frame
• MU also had three corner kicks to two for the away team
• Rodrigo Castro de Siqueira (four shots, one on goal), Leonardo Gois Abonizio (three shots, one on goal) and Yuri Farkas Guglielmi (three shots, all on goal) paced the MU offense 

UP NEXT

• The Blue and Gold will return to the pitch on Saturday, Oct. 12 when they will play host to Rochester College at 2:30 PM following the women's soccer match
