LIMA, Ohio– The Madonna University women's basketball team slow first quarter proved to be detrimental in their 64-87 loss to the Racers of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday afternoon.
The Crusaders fell to an early 10-0 deficit in the first four minutes of the contest before Sydney Brown scored the next ten points for the Blue and Gold. The duo of Brown and Hannah Reinhold would not be enough as the Racers increased their lead to 16 points by the end of th quarter. MU won the second quarter 20-17 thanks to another 10 points from Brown, although could not keep the momentum through the second half as the Racers outscored the Crusaders 41-31 in the final two frames to seal the victory at 87-64.

Brown paced the Crusaders offense with 29 points, seven rebounds, and three assists while Cierra von Zittwitz added 16 points and nine boards. Reinhold held the team high in rebounds with 11 throughout the contest.

Madonna went 0-7 from 3-point distance, although converted on 16-of-22 free throws and 24-of-61 from the field.

The Racers converted on 8-of-31 attempts from beyond the 3-point arc and shot 45.8 percent (33-72) from field goal range.
