Farkas leads No. 25 @MUCrusadersMSOC to comeback against Siena Heights

LIVONIA, Mich. - The Madonna University men's soccer team made a second half comeback against the Siena Heights University Saints at the Madonna Athletics Complex with the winning goal coming from Yuri Farkas Guglielmi. The 4-2 win puts the Crusaders to 8-2-0 overall and 3-0-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play while the Saints drop to 4-5-1 on the year and 1-1-1 in league play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • FIRST HALF

    • Less than five minutes into the game Ludvick Asigo made a good run down the right side and was pulled down in the box for a penalty. Farkas struck it into the bottom left corner for the first goal of the match.

    • The Saints pressed deep into the Crusaders' half forcing a mistake in the midfield which led to a shot from Matt Lentine off the right post and in for Siena's first goal.

    • Only 37 seconds separated the first and second goal for the Saints as they pressured a Madonna defender into a handball in the box for a penalty. Chris Ornelas stepped up and slotted it home to take the lead.

  • SECOND HALF

    • The Blue and Gold came out in the second half with high intensity, which paid off in the 53rd minute when Wagner Gameiro Febbe finished off a cross that was tipped by the keeper for the tying goal.

    • A fantastic through ball from Justin Stack led to the game winning goal as Farkas cooly finessed a shot to the bottom left corner.

    • Farkas completed the hat trick in the 80th minute as a rebound from Gamerio Febbe's shot fell to him for the easy goal.

INSIDE THE BOX

  • The Crusaders outshot the Saints 31-6, with 16 shots on goal compared to just four for Siena Heights.

  • Joe Smith made two saves on the day.

  • Farkas scored three goals to make it eight on the season for him, while Gameiro Febbe scored his second of the year.
