@MUCrusadersWBB falls to Lourdes after troublesome second half

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Madonna University women's basketball team dropped their second straight Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest to Lourdes University on Saturday afternoon at the MU Activities Center by a score of 52-74. The Crusaders fall to 0-6 on the season and 0-2 in WHAC play, while the Gray Wolves improve to 3-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Trailing 7-10 with 4:17 remaining in the first quarter, a 5-2 offensive run for the Crusaders tied the score at 12 thanks to a Sydney Brown jumper and a late three-pointer by Naomi Davis.

  • Despite being outscored 17-12 in the second quarter and trailing by a game high 10 points with just 49 seconds remaining in the half, a Lex Davis layup and Julia Bogart three-pointer limited the damage and ended the half by a score of 29-24 in favor of Lourdes.

  • The Gray Wolves piled on in the second half, growing their lead as large as 25 points. A couple of Ashleigh Ringstad three-pointers helped limit the damage, but the Gray Wolves proved to be too much for the Crusaders in the long run.

  • Brown paced the Crusaders offense with 12 points and two assists, also collecting four rebounds on the night, while Ringstad was 2-for-3 from beyond the arc with three rebounds and an assist
