CHANDLER, Ariz. (MadonnaCrusaders.com) - - The No. 11-ranked Madonna University baseball team rode the right arm of junior Robert Fraser (Westland, Mich. / John Glenn) to a 4-0 win over Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday (March 5) at the Snedigar Complex.

The win snapped MU's four-game losing streak and improved the Crusaders to 3-4 on the young season.

Fraser struck out a career-high 10 hitters while scattering three hits in the complete game effort, improving to 1-0 on the year. Senior Matt Kay (Canton, Mich. / Canton), sophomores Steve Pelletier (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison) and Spencer Sarel (Brighton, Mich. / Brighton) along with freshman Ryan Lech(Macomb, Mich. / L'Anse Creuse North) all posted hits for the Crusaders with sophomore Brad Lineberry (Canton, Mich. / Plymouth) and Pelletier driving in a run each.

After a scoreless first inning, MU put three runs up on the board in the second as Kay led off with a walk and moved to third on a Sarel single. Freshman Victor Barron (Fowlerville, Mich. / Fowlerville) then drew a walk and moved to second on a Wildcat error that allowed both Kay and Sarel to score and put the Crusaders on top 2-0. It became 3-0 one batter later when Lineberry hit a sacrifice fly to right that scored Baron for the third MU run.

MU added its fourth run in the third inning as Lech reached on a one out single and moved to second on a passed ball before scoring on a Pelletier single for the 4-0 lead.

From the third inning on, Fraser did not allow a runner past second base in shutting down IWU, including striking out the side in the sixth in earning the victory.

MU returns to the field on Sunday for a single game against Dakota Wesleyan. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. (MST) at the Snedigar Complex.
