No. 1 Crusaders Celebrate Senior Day with Dominant Win Over RV Taylor

LVIONIA, Mich. – Madonna Men's Lacrosse celebrated Senior Day in emphatic fashion Saturday afternoon, defeating RV Taylor University 26–15 at the MU Soccer and Lacrosse Field.

Prior to the game, the Crusaders honored their senior class of Caleb Kosnik, Ross Preston, Dominic Zeoli, Zach Lilly, Ryan Davis, DeMario Williams, Dylan Hicks, Blazej Cimochowski, Gabe Venard, Ethan Solis, Joey Schmaltz, Taylor Christman, Marcus Villagomez, Spencer Guppy, and Cooper Regimbal for their contributions to the program.

Taylor struck first in the opening minutes, but Madonna quickly responded and took control. The Crusaders found their rhythm midway through the first quarter, stringing together a series of goals from Ross Preston, Reid Dunavant, DeMario Williams, and Cooper Regimbal to build a 6–3 lead after one.

Madonna continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, with Matthew DiSalle and Marcus Villagomez adding goals to extend the advantage. Despite Taylor staying within striking distance, the Crusaders carried a 9–6 lead into halftime behind balanced scoring and strong offensive movement.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point. After Taylor cut into the lead early, Madonna responded with a decisive scoring run. Goals from Regimbal, Spencer Guppy, Rico Hart, and Owen Barker helped the Crusaders outscore Taylor 6–2 in the quarter and push the lead to 15–8 heading into the final period.

The Crusaders put the game away in dominant fashion in the fourth quarter, erupting for 11 goals. Madonna's depth was on full display, with multiple seniors contributing to the offensive outburst. Dylan Hicks scored twice in the period, while Guppy and Regimbal continued to lead the attack as the Crusaders pulled away for the 26–15 victory.

Regimbal led the way with five goals and an assist, while Guppy added three goals and three assists. Dunavant and Rico Hart each recorded three goals, and Jackson Gradstein played a key role as a facilitator with three assists. Hicks contributed two goals, while several seniors—including Preston, Davis, Williams, Cimochowski, and Villagomez—each found the back of the net in the win.

Madonna showcased its offensive firepower throughout the contest, finishing with 55 shots and 26 total goals. The Crusaders also controlled possession, winning the faceoff battle 22–19 and capitalizing on key scoring opportunities.

In goal, Jonathan Bendfeldt recorded seven saves over the majority of the game, while Taylor Christman saw time in both halves as Madonna rotated its lineup on Senior Day.

With the win, Madonna improved to 16–1 overall and remained unbeaten in conference play, closing out the regular season on a high note while honoring a senior class that has played a major role in the program's success.

The Crusaders will now turn their focus to postseason play, carrying strong momentum into the upcoming conference tournament. The Crusaders will be in action next after their well-earned "bye" from the quarterfinal round and compete in the WHAC Semifinal game versus the winner of game two.
