UPLAND, Ind. – In a battle between two top-10 programs, No. 1 Madonna men's lacrosse delivered a statement performance Wednesday afternoon, defeating No. 9 Taylor 27–10 at Wheeler Field.
The Crusaders came out firing from the opening faceoff, overwhelming Taylor with an 11-goal first quarter to seize immediate control. Madonna's offensive depth was on full display early, with multiple players finding the back of the net during the opening surge.
Madonna continued its dominance in the second quarter, adding nine more goals to build a commanding 20–3 lead at halftime. The Crusaders capitalized on both even-strength and man-up opportunities while controlling possession and pace throughout the first half.
The Trojans showed signs of life in the third quarter, but Madonna matched the effort and maintained a comfortable lead heading into the final period. The Crusaders added two more goals in the fourth to close out the 27–10 victory.
Rico Hart led the offensive attack with five goals and three assists, while
Cooper Regimbal added four goals.
Ryan Davis contributed a strong all-around performance with three goals and two assists, and
Jackson Gradstein and
Spencer Guppy each added two goals and two assists.
Carter Borsos played a key role in facilitating the offense with four assists as Madonna finished with 18 assists on 27 goals, showcasing strong ball movement throughout the contest.
Defensively, the Crusaders controlled possession by winning the faceoff battle 30–10 and collecting 60 ground balls. Goalkeeper
Jonathan Bendfeldt recorded 10 saves in the win before
Ean Mihuc came on in relief to close out the game.
With the win, Madonna improved to 10–1 on the season and remained unbeaten in conference play, securing another statement victory over a top-10 opponent. Madonna will travel to Adrian, Mich. to take on the Saints of Siena Heights University on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 1:00 PM at O'Laughlin Stadium.
