VIERA, FL – Madonna softball delivered a strong performance on both sides of the ball Wednesday afternoon, defeating the University of Fort Lauderdale 5–0.
The Crusaders wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, plating two runs in the opening inning to take an early lead. Madonna continued to apply pressure throughout the game, adding two more runs in the fourth inning before tacking on another insurance run in the fifth to extend the advantage to 5–0.
Ashley Rosiewicz led the Crusaders offensively with a standout performance at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.
Rylee Fitzpatrick also contributed two hits and drove in two runs, while
Brynn Anteau added a pair of hits to help pace the Madonna offense.
Carson Kulhmann added an extra-base hit and scored a run, and Chelsea Weatherspoon reached base and crossed the plate as Madonna finished the game with nine hits.
In the circle,
Laci Harris delivered a dominant outing for the Crusaders. Harris tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out three to earn the win.
Madonna's defense backed the performance by playing a clean game in the field and limiting Fort Lauderdale's opportunities throughout the contest. The Crusaders controlled the game from the first inning and never allowed the Eagles to generate consistent offensive pressure.
With the win, Madonna continued its strong play during its Florida trip, combining timely hitting with a dominant performance in the circle.
