Crusaders Dominate for 10 Runs to Shut Out Coastal Georgia

MELBOURNE, FL – Madonna softball broke open a scoreless game with a massive fifth inning, scoring 10 runs to defeat Coastal Georgia 10–0 on March 9 at the Space Coast Complex.

Both teams threatened early but were unable to push a run across through the first four innings. Coastal Georgia loaded the bases in the first inning, but Madonna pitcher Camille Oyer entered in relief and escaped the jam with three consecutive strikeouts to keep the game scoreless.

The Crusaders finally broke through in the fifth inning with an offensive explosion. Faith Peschke reached base to start the rally before Regan Finkbeiner followed with a bunt single. Ashley Rosiewicz drove in the first run with an RBI single, and Brynn Anteau quickly added another with an RBI double to give Madonna a 2–0 lead.

Madonna continued to apply pressure throughout the inning. Rylee Fitzpatrick brought home another run with a single before Ella Thomas worked a bases-loaded walk to extend the lead. Carson Kulhmann delivered a big two-RBI single, and Peschke followed with another run-scoring hit to keep the rally going.

The Crusaders weren't finished yet. Finkbeiner added an RBI bunt single and Rosiewicz lifted a sacrifice fly before Anteau capped the inning with another RBI single, completing the 10-run outburst.

Oyer earned the win in the circle, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out five. Madonna's pitching staff held Coastal Georgia to five hits and stranded multiple runners throughout the contest.

Offensively, the Crusaders totaled 13 hits in the game. Finkbeiner led the way with three hits and two runs scored, while Anteau also collected three hits and drove in two runs. Rosiewicz added two hits and two RBIs, and Fitzpatrick chipped in two hits as Madonna's lineup produced runs throughout the decisive fifth inning.

With the victory, the Crusaders closed out another strong day of competition in Florida with one of their most explosive offensive performances of the trip.

The Crusaders will have a day off from games Tuesday March 10, 2026 and will be back in action on Wednesday March 11, 2026 when they play University of Fort Lauderdale first at 12:15 PM. Following Fort Lauderdale, the Crusaders will finish their Wednesday when they take on #12 St. Thomas University (Fla.) in a highly anticipated #12 vs. #6 matchup.
