SOUTHFIELD, Mich.-- In a challenging league volleyball match at the Don Ridler Field House in Southfield, Michigan, the Madonna University Crusaders faced a hard-fought defeat against Lawrence Tech on September 3, 2025, with a final score of 1-3.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The match began promisingly for the Crusaders, who took the first set 25-20 demonstrating solid offensive plays and strategic kill shots by
Kira Buza, who led with 18 kills throughout the match. However, the tide shifted in the second set as Lawrence Tech bounced back, claiming the set 25-18. The subsequent sets saw intense competition with close scores, but the Crusaders were narrowly beaten in both the third (24-26) and fourth (23-25) sets, despite valiant efforts and outstanding kills by
Katie Mulka and
Paige Caradonna.
Defensively,
Karlee Stoll showcased her abilities with 18 digs, supported by
Kira Buza and
Lexa Forti, who contributed 15 and 13 digs respectively. Stoll also led the team in assists, adding up to 46 assists, enhancing the team's tactical executions during the match. The team managed to secure a few aces from Stoll, Buza, and
Ryley Osentoski, adding crucial points which unfortunately were not enough for a victory.

Moving forward, the Madonna University Crusaders, currently holding a record of 3-2, will look to rebound from this setback. Their next matches on September 5, 2025, where they will travel to Kokomo, Ind. for the IUK Invite. Friday they will face Bryan College and Indiana University at South Bend in Kokomo, Ind. Their first game will be at 2:15 PM and their second at 6:45 PM.
