Crusaders Take Down Spartans in Dominating Fashion

LIVONIA, Mich. – The Madonna University Crusaders hosted the Spartans of Missouri Baptist University on a gorgeous Monday evening. The Crusaders would prevail in the contest after putting up a whopping 22 goal performance.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Madonna and Missouri Baptist started out in a close contest of back and forth scoring with the game being a one-goal margin up until the early stages of the second quarter. In that time span, the Spartans would hold a 2-to-1 lead only for 12 seconds. The Crusaders would see scoring from Evan Bunch, Carter Borsos, Zachary Lane and Benjamin Reidy. Madonna would carry a 4-to-2 lead going into the second quarter.
 
The Crusaders would continue the offensive onslaught by outscoring the Spartans 6-to-2 in the second quarter. Within the second quarter, Crusader goals would be generated by Reidy, Borsos, Nick Bryden, and Jackson Gradstein. In addition to the impressive scoring, Lane would generate four assists and one goal before the end of the first half.
 
Third quarter action would see the Crusaders outscore the Spartans in dominating fashion again by putting up six goals to the Spartans' one. Borsos would add to his goal count as he would put up a hat trick in the third quarter alone. Lane would tally another two goals with Reidy following with one. With the third quarter ending, the Crusader would be fully in the driver's seat with a commanding 16-to-5 lead.
 
Finishing up with the fourth and final quarter of the game, a variety of Crusaders would find the back of the net with Cameron Barber and Marcus Dochenetz picking up two, and Joey Van Goethem notching one as well. With the game being all said and done, the Crusaders would win with a score of 22-to-8. The big three in points for the Crusaders would see Lane pick up four goals and five assists for a total of nine points on the day. Borsos would be goal heavy as he notched six goals and two assists for eight total points. Lastly, Reidy would put up a solid three goals and three assists for six points.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • 14 different Crusaders recorded a point.
  • Madonna would generate 22 caused turnovers.
  • The Crusaders would go 37-for-43 on clears.
