Crusaders Spoil Blue Devils’ Senior Day in Final Game of the Regular Season

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Madonna University women's basketball team traveled to Lawrence Tech University this afternoon for a match up with the Blue Devils in what would be their final regular season game of their 2024-25 campaign. The Crusaders would spoil the Blue Devils' senior day with a win of 73-57, going to 14-and-14 overall and 7-and-13 in the WHAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Following a win at home on senior day last weekend, the Crusaders would hope to complete a pair of wins to end their regular season, even with a shortened roster missing nine players. The Blue Devils would be coming off of a loss at UNOH putting them to 5-22 overall and 3-16 in the conference.

Chenelle King, the second leading scorer for the Crusaders, would find the basket first, but the Blue Devils would be quick to respond, the margin remaining close throughout the half. King would continue to be a driving force both defensively and offensively in the first quarter, capturing nine points to give the visiting side a lead of 20-11.

Terre'ya Moore would get the Crusaders going in the second quarter, with nine total points to close out the first half. The Blue Devils would commit a run of fouls, allowing the Crusaders to run away with it a little bit and give themselves a lead of 36-19 going into halftime. King would end the half with 12 points, four steals, and two assists.

The game would get a little chippy, tensions escalating in the third and both teams getting very physical in the paint. The Crusaders would widen their point margin to 23, leading 56-33 to end the third quarter. The Blue Devils would not be able to find a response in the fourth, despite a late push. The Crusaders captured a decisive win of 73-57 on the road to close out their regular season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
● Moore would capture 16 points, eight rebounds, and two steals
● King had 14 points, six assists, and five steals
Dekota Smith would end her night with 14 points
