WESTFIELD, Ind. – The Madonna Crusaders Men's Lacrosse team traveled to Westfield, Indiana to take on No. 2 Webber International Warriors (Fla.) in a neutral site game. Madonna brings the energy early and through most of the game but ultimately fall to the Warriors in a close 10-13 loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Crusaders, coming off a dominant 22-to-7 win against Montreat College (N.C.), were heading into a huge game with the number two ranked in the nation, Webber International Warriors. The Warriors would give the Warriors a challenge as the win for Webber would be the closest goal differential so far.
To begin the game, Webber's Riley Small would give the Warriors the go-ahead-goal just shy of three minutes into the game. The Crusaders would go on to score four unanswered goals to go up 4-1.
Benjamin Reidy would notch two goals while senior
Nick Bryden and sophomore
Jackson Gradstein would each pick up a goal. All four goals occur within 2 minutes and 36 seconds of each other. Warrior, Jeremiah Loo, would close out the first quarter by cutting the Crusader lead to only two by scoring with 22 seconds left.
Wasting no time in the second quarter, Reidy would secure his third goal of the game which was assisted by Bryden at the 13:16 minute mark. The Warriors would respond big by scoring two unassisted goals from Daniel McClure and Nick Sheaffer. Madonna, feeling the pressure of only having a one goal lead would secure two huge goals to end the second quarter. Gradstein would pick up his second of the day while junior,
Makian Chamblis, would mark his spot on the goal sheet.
After regrouping during halftime, Webber International would go on to score three unanswered goals, tying the game up at seven goals each. Both Jeremiah Loo and Nick Sheaffer would pick up their second goal of the game while Riley Small would pick up an unassisted for his first of the game. Madonna would regain the lead by way of junior mid-fielder,
Shane Alexander with
Zachary Lane picking up his third assist of the game. Another lead change would take place before the end of the 3
rd quarter as Warriors Connor Herring and Daniel McClure would each pick up unassisted goals to give Webber a 9-to-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The offensive onslaught would continue for Webber International as they picked up three quick goals from Riley Small, Joshua Colon-Prinzo, and Jeremiah Loo to extend their lead to four goals. The Crusaders would show life near the midway mark of the fourth quarter.
Benjamin Reidy and
Zachary Lane would both score to cut the Webber lead to only two. Nick Sheaffer would conclude the scoring in the game by putting the Warriors up by three goals and ultimately giving Webber International the 13-to-10 win. Webber International would move to (3-0) overall and the Crusaders would move to (1-1) overall on the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Benjamin would be the biggest offensive threat in the game by scoring four goals and recording five shots on goal.
- Lane would secure three assists and one goal for a total of four points.
- Madonna outshot the Warriors 38-to-35.

The Madonna Men's Lacrosse Team will have another tough match-up on February 18, 2025, when they welcome #5 William Penn University (Iowa). The game will start at 4:00 PM and take place at the Detroit Country Day Fieldhouse in Beverly Hills, Michigan.
