LIVONIA, Mich. - Madonna University Men's Soccer team (3-0-1, 0-0) defeated Saint Francis University (Ind.) (1-3-0, 0-0) on Saturday afternoon. After a scoreless first half the Crusaders were able to take care of the Cougars with a final score of 3-0. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

In the first half, the game was back and forth between the Crusaders and Cougars with neither team seeming to find momentum or make any offensive pushes. The first half saw a combined total of one shot in the first half despite the Crusaders earning four corner kicks. After 45 minutes we headed into halftime with a score of 0-0. 

The second half was a much different story for both teams who both came out aggressive. Each team was able to find a push and each attack were able to find shots with the total shot count in the second half being 12. But it was the Crusaders who were able to find the back of the net starting with Jordy Lopez who found the back of the net through traffic off a free kick pass from Andres Gomez just five minutes into the second half. Then 15 minutes later in the 65th minute Yan Brun would place the perfect crossing pass right to the head Ryushin Hirami for the Crusaders second goal of the game. Then in the 89th minute Hirami would find his second goal of the game from another beautiful pass, this time from Matthew Rafferty, to seal the 3-0 victory for the Crusaders


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• The Crusaders outshot the Cougars 8(5) - 5(2).
• Madonna had four corner kicks to Saint Francis one. 
• Afonso Henrique finished with two saves.

UP NEXT:

The Crusaders will be back in action at home on Tuesday, September 3rd to take on the Taylor University. Kick off is set for 2:00 PM.
