LIVONIA, Mich. -- Madonna University announced that Tessa Michels will become the new Competitive Dance Coach as Lucy Gould has stepped down.

"We're very excited to have Coach Michels as our new competitive dance coach," said Madonna Athletic Director, Noel Emenhiser. "She was instrumental in their growth over the 2024 season. Her vision for the program, her technical ability in the sport, and her care for relationships and development of her student athletes is something we are very excited about adding to our dance program".

Michels was the former assistant with the Madonna Dance team since August of 2023. As the assistant, Michels created and taught the choreography for the team, learned budget and finance processes, designs workout and class plans. Before Madonna, Michels was an assistant coach at PCEP High School for the varsity team from 2015-2016.

"I am beyond excited to step into this new role with the Madonna Dance Team!" Michels said, "These girls work so hard and have so much drive not just in their dance careers, but in life in general. I can't wait to watch them grow this season and continue to be the best versions of themselves that they can be!"
