ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Madonna University men's lacrosse team traveled to Ann Arbor to face No. 6 Concordia University on Saturday afternoon. The Crusaders would fall to the Cardinals 16-7 which brings them to 6-5 on the year. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Crusaders faced another tough matchup in the Cardinals facing their third ranked opponent in the last four games. In the first half the Crusaders struggled to gain momentum as they struggled to find shots and get stops on defense. Despite their struggles in the first quarter where they were outscored 5-2, the Crusaders would have a much better second quarter and head into halftime down 6-3.  

The second half would be dominated by the Cardinals as the Crusaders would be held scoreless in the third quarter as they Cardinals would score 10 unanswered goals before the Crusaders would pick up their first goal of the second half with 7:19 remaining in the 4th quarter. The Crusaders would score three more goals after that but it would not be enough to catch up to the Cardinals as they would fall 16-7. Jeff Varner would be in goal for the Crusaders and would have a busy day seeing 44 shots on goal with 28 saves on 16 goals allowed. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
 

• Reid Dunavant  finished with two goals on seven shots on goal.
• Joey Van Goethem finished with two goals on two shots on goal.
• Braeden McCullough would finish with four caused turnovers 

UP NEXT:

Madonna will be back in action Wednesday, April 10th as they travel Dearborn, Mich. where they will take on University of Michigan-Dearborn. The game is set to start at 7:00 PM.
