LIVONIA, Mich. - After their first conference win of the 2024-25 season against Defiance College, the Madonna Crusaders (6-3, 1-3) returned home to face the Rochester Christian University Warriors (2-7, 1-2). In an absolutely dominant showcase, four different Crusaders would find double-digits as they went on to beat the Warriors 90-79.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Both teams would take their time feeling each other out in a stalemate of an opening five minutes to the contest. Near the end of the first quarter, the Crusaders would begin to find their rhythm. Two three-pointers from
Delani Robinson in the closing minutes of the first quarter put the Crusaders up 21-15.
Robinson opened up the second quarter with another three-pointer.
Elena DiMaria followed it up with a layup to give the Crusaders their first double-digit lead of the afternoon. The Crusaders would hold onto a confident lead going into the halftime break 38-29.
Coming out in the second half, the Warriors would begin playing incredibly aggressive, full-court pressing the Crusaders on every possession. The Warriors would take advantage of the Crusaders' confusion, and steal back the lead 62-60 by the end of the quarter.
In the final quarter, the Crusaders would get back on track and pull away from the Warriors.
Ashley Kopacko and
Marcela Rodriguez would combine for 15 points in the final quarter alone to put the Crusaders ahead 90-79 when the final buzzer hit.
