LIVONIA, Mich. - Coming into ACCU Arena on a five-game win streak, the Madonna Crusaders (10-3) hoped to extend that against the Kuyper College Cougars (4-7). Christmas came early for the Crusaders as they delivered double-digit three-pointers in a game for the first time since the 2019-20 season, including five from
Delani Robinson. Their ten threes ended up being the margin of victory over the Cougars, as they won by thirty points exactly 76-46.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first of their historic ten-threes came from
Dekota Smith in the game's opening minutes. Just under five minutes into the game,
Delani Robinson's first three-pointer gave the Crusaders their first double-digit lead, up 14-4. Robinson would make another three in the closing seconds of the quarter, giving the Crusaders a 20-10 lead after one quarter.
After the Cougars began to heat up in the second quarter, their flame was extinguished by back-to-back three pointers from Robinson.
Paige Humerickhouse would hit the team's sixth three of the first half to close out the quarter. Crusaders led 38-27 at halftime.
Coming out of the break, Robinson would hit her fifth three-pointer of the game. Keiarra Jennings would hit two three pointers of her own as the Crusaders continued to extend their lead.
Ashley Kopacko would hit the Crusaders' tenth three in the final quarter, the first time since the 2019-20 season that they scored 10 three pointers in a single game as a team. Crusaders closed out the Cougars 76-46.
