Young leads Crusaders to victory with double-double before halftime

LIVONIA, Mich. - Riding high from their dominant victory over the #RV Spring Arbor Cougars less than twenty-four hours ago, the Madonna Crusaders (6-7) would take the court on a short turnaround to face the St. Thomas University Bobcats (5-6). Christmas would come early for the Crusaders, as they would get another stellar victory with an 89-78 win over the Bobcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Guard Ethan Emerzian, who has been scorching hot since the start of conference play, wasted no time hitting a three-pointer on the Crusaders' opening possession. After giving up a run to the Bobcats, forward Brendan Young would put the Crusaders back ahead. On the next possession, Young would hit another three to put the Crusaders up 13-7 after four minutes.

Young would continue to make his presence felt up and down the court as the Crusaders built a substantial first-half lead. By halftime, the Crusaders led 46-32 and Young already had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

For the first ten minutes of the second half it appeared to be just as one-sided as the majority of the first half was, with the Crusaders extending their lead to twenty. However, the Bobcats slowly chipped away, cutting the lead to single digits with eight minutes left to play, 69-62.

This seemingly woke the Crusaders up, as they went back to taking control of the game and shutting down the Bobcats' attempts at making it close. Young and Emerzian would each hit a pair of free throws to end things off and put the game away 89-78.
