No. 13 Foresters take down Crusaders

LIVONIA, Mich. - Coming off two overtime nail biters against opponents from the Crossroads conference, the Madonna University Crusaders (1-2) would return to the floor of ACCU Arena for their third straight Crossroads crossover. This time, they faced No. 13 Huntington University (Ind.) Foresters (5-0). The Foresters would prove why they are one of the nation's most highly-touted teams, as they shot lights out against the Crusaders to win 81-60.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Crusader forward Brendan Young got things started with a second-chance layup after an offensive rebound from center Matt MacLellan. To follow that up, guard Ethan Emerzian pulled up from three to make it a 6-5 game in the opening minutes.

From there the Foresters would shift into high-gear, shooting the lights out in ACCU Arena. They jumped ahead to a 48-26 lead going into halftime.

In the second half, the Crusaders would attempt to make it competitive, but the Forresters had put the game out of reach. They would go on to win 81-60.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Young led the team with 13 points and eight rebounds.
  • Satchel Love was a perfect 4-of-4 shooting with five rebounds and eight total points.
  • Sho-Ron Graham scored double-digits with 10 points and led the team in three-pointers made.
UP NEXT:

The Crusaders will hit the road for the first time this season as they head to Pennsylvania to face the Penn State Greater Allegheny Nittany Lions (0-2). Tip-off is set for 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 16 from McKeesport, PA.
